KIVA, de 23e lening.

Deze maand heb ik een lening uitgedaan aan Francisca Kerly uit Ecuador. Zij wilt het geld gaan gebruiken om stoffen, garens, knopen en ander 'naai'-materiaal te kopen.

The Communal Bank New Horizons meets every fifteen days in Canton Jipijapa, canton known with the name of the sultana of coffee because of its extensive coffee´s crop, which has a unique taste, for its gastronomy and the warmth of its people.

In this place lives the Francisca, who is 50 years old and lives in free union of which has five children, four of them are adults and one is nine years old. The two youngest sons still live at home and are studying in college and school. The husband is a bricklayer.

She learned cutting and sewing in the canton´s center and now with the purpose of obtaining her own income and taking advantage of her knowledge in cutting and sewing, she put in his house a small sewing workshop. There she makes all kinds of clothing for men, women and children, while recognizing that what she likes most is sewing for women or girls as there are more designs.

She works based on orders from individuals and in seasons also makes uniforms for institutions and schools in the locality.

She works every day from 6h00 to 22h00 and sometimes until later when she has orders to be delivered. She has been in business for more than 30 years and, thank God, has hardly ever been without work (to do).

She will use this loan to buy fabrics, yarns, buttons and other materials for sewing. For two years, she has been with the communal bank and likes it for all the help she has received from the loans to get ahead.

Her dreams are to get ahead and have good health
